New National Member for Finland joins Eurojust
|
Ms Heli Vesaaja has taken up her duties as the new National Member for Finland at Eurojust, replacing Ms Lilja Limingoja. Before this appointment, Ms Vesaaja worked for the Prosecution District of Southern Finland, as a prosecutor since 1997 and as a senior specialised prosecutor since 2019. Since 2007, she has specialised in organised crime, drug trafficking and money laundering. She has actively participated in multiple joint investigation teams.

New National Member for Malta takes up duties
|
Ms Maria Baldacchino has taken up her duties as the new National Member for Malta at Eurojust, succeeding Mr Philip Galea Farrugia. Ms Baldacchino has already served as Deputy National Member since September 2021, combining this function with her work as a lawyer at the Office of the Attorney General in Valletta. She has worked at Eurojust as Assistant to the National Member since March 2020.

Two new Liaison Prosecutors take up duties at Eurojust
|
Eurojust welcomes two new Liaison Prosecutors who recently took up duties at the Agency. For the first time, the Republic of Moldova has stationed a prosecutor at Eurojust’s headquarters in The Hague, with the aim of strengthening cooperation with the Moldovan authorities on cases of serious cross-border crime. The new Liaison Prosecutor for Norway is set to continue the strong cooperation on judicial matters that dates back to 2005, when Norway became the first country to sign a cooperation agreement with Eurojust.

Vincent Jamin appointed Administrative Director of Eurojust
|
The College of Eurojust appointed Mr Vincent Jamin as new Administrative Director of the Agency. Mr Jamin is a French prosecutor by profession. He brings with him 25 years of experience in the area of criminal justice, ranging from assignments in the French Ministry of Justice (2003-2010) to several high-level positions at Eurojust since 2010. Before becoming Administrative Director of Eurojust, he served as the head of the Agency’s Operations Department since 2018.

Moldovan President visits Eurojust to discuss enhanced judicial cooperation
|
President Ms Maia Sandu of the Republic of Moldova visited Eurojust to discuss the country’s cooperation with the Agency and its further integration into the EU’s judicial cooperation architecture. She met with Eurojust President Mr Ladislav Hamran, who underlined the importance of strengthened relationships to effectively fight serious cross-border crime. Ms Sandu was also briefed on Eurojust’s core activities and its support for the accountability efforts for Ukraine.

Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union kicks off at Eurojust with a live art performance
|
The Spanish artist Bea Sarrias has painted a portrait of Eurojust’s headquarters as part of a live performance carried out in the hall of the building between 3 and 7 July. The project, called ‘European Light’, is an initiative of the Spanish National Desk at Eurojust, with the support of the Ministry of Justice and the Embassy of Spain in The Hague. It marks the start of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which began on 1 July.
